if you get the external card not USB you would have better reception of the signal bad thing you can break it easier

if it came with a cd try to run it in xp compatibility mode its in the preperties menu if you cant get to it you might have to go to the cd find the installer and manually do it from there but i have a wmp 54g linksys wireless pci adapter and i ran it from the cd and i didnt have any problems...

you dont have any security setting set like the MAC adress filter on it will do somethign close to that also you can manually config your ip by run>cmd>ipconfig>hit enter
