Router/Wireless Networking Issue

I moved to a new place two days ago, and we just had the internet put in yesterday. It works fairly well, except for the fact it randomly drops connection for no reason. It still says I'm connected to the cable modem (an Arris TM502G) but I can't go to any websites or connect to any online games. This is problem #1.

Problem #2. Today I go to connect my Netgear wireless router, and yet again it says im connected to the cable modem, but I can't connect to any websites or online games. At first, I could get into my wireless settings by typing 192.168.1.1 into my web browser, but now I can't get in there at all.

I've tried pinging 192.168.1.1 through the command prompt and it says the request timed out. I've looked everywhere and I can't figure out whats wrong. I've restarted my PC, modem, and router but nothing works. When I take the internet cable and plug it directly to my PC from the modem, the internet works.

I'm really at my wits end here, I've been troubleshooting for 3 1/2 hours now and ive gotten nowhere. I think it may be the cable modem, but im not sure. Any suggestions at all will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I had the EXACT same issue with my Charter internet and it turned out that the modem was faulty. Once they switched out the modem it has not happened since.

I would be online for a total of 10 minutes, walk to get something in the other room comeback and I could not do anything, but yet it would I'm still connected. I finally had enough and had them give me a new box, and all better. I'm not sure if its the same for you

Ya thats my suspicion right now, I might have to call Comcast and have them come in and replace this piece of junk, but any other ideas?

My DSL does the same thing... Wireless Router, at times playing online halo it drops the connection, and once in a while returns it. Yahoo DSL... luckily I have another modem. Yall made by speedstream?

Fixed the wireless issue, some weird problem where I had to change the MAC address of the router to the same one as the PC.

I have the same problem.
I get my connection dropped about every 5 minutes.
It's SO irritating, I can't play games or anything.
I have my internet modem connected to a Linksys router, which gives internet to the downstairs computers, then a wire running it to the upstairs section, which goes to a D-link Switch [rather old], then to my computer.
all the other computers, downstairs and upstairs maintain internet fine.

So I assume it's something to do with my computer, since everyone else is fine.
