little help need on Windows 2011 Seaver installation on 60gb ssd

So uhmm yea. Let me get this straight. Server runs out of space and your response is to somehow turn off the alarm? How about you try to fix the source ;) Haven't played around with windows home server ever. So correct me if i'm wrong but how about you just check what's eating up your space...

possible to connect a modem router and another router?

Can't do much without the model number. Check out the database yourself if you want http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database.

possible to connect a modem router and another router?

They usually have a web interface through which you can configure stuff. So you need to know the ip address of both. And they're unique. So they can't both be 192.168.2.2.

possible to connect a modem router and another router?

Uhmm ok. This should be good. You need to figure out the ip address of both the routers. It depends on how you've set them up. Could you post an ipconfig excerpt of your network card when you're connected to either of the networks?

possible to connect a modem router and another router?

What are we talking about? Wireless network i assume? You could set up both of them identically. So the same network name, and the same protocol (A,B,G,N) but different channels. Your wireless network card should roam between the two then.

    data backup questions

I personally have a 2 tiered setup. All my stuff (video's, photo's, work & school related stuff) i save on my machine on a separate internal hard disk. I treat this as an archive. Stuff i'm currently working in is in my dropbox and gets synced to all computers i work on. When i complete a...

    Home Network Problems

You've got 2 routers in place. Which means you've got 2 nat layers. Judging from your post you don't really have a use for it. I'd suggest turning of dhcp on the d-link and stop using the wan port on the d-link. Then you'll have only one nat layer. Then start port forwarding on the...

    Windows 2K Server workgroup.

^^ That's not officially supported but will work. Your user accounts will require a password. Other thing you can try is to completely open up your shares. Complete access for everyone.

I'm not really getting what you mean. But if it works, hurray for that :)

    Stumped, maybe DNS

I never use conditional forwarding anyway. I just use the normal forwarders. Much easier to configure and in 99% of the cases more than enough features. I don't know what you've done now. But you could just put your isp's dns servers in there. Your dns server will then just forward anything he...

    DDWRT/3rd party router software.

Depends on the model and make. Some of them have such crappy firmware there really is a lot to gain. Some only gain small amounts. In my experience you usually also get a stability increase, but that's also dependent on the model. I really dislike most of the interfaces on routers. Love...

    dissappointing LAN transfer rates :(

I don't know what kind of laptop you have but if it supports wireless-N you'd be better off looking for a router that supports that to. That would be more benificial then getting a router with gigabit switch ports.

    dissappointing LAN transfer rates :(

    1. There's a difference between mbps (megabit) and MBps (megabyte). 1MBps = 8 * 1mbps 2. 54mbit wireless speed practically comes down to a max of 25mbit (close to router) 3. wireless 25mbit corresponds to about 2/3 MBps So basically if the 1mbps you're reffering to is 1 megabyte per second...

    Wireless loss thru repeater

Any wireless repeater will cut the speed in half and add to latency nothing you can do about that. If you want a more stable connection and cabling really isn't an option. You could try and take a look at line-of-sight wireless stuff. I know it's out there. And i know how to call it in my own...

    Running a website

If you're paying the electric bill this is useless. You can get a simple website for like 30 dollars a year. Running a machine 24/7 would cost much more.
