i have purchased a new belkin modem router n600hd and a belkin router n300, but they both come up as 2 seperate networks. is it possible to join the two so i dont have to keep switching between them?
thanks

What are we talking about? Wireless network i assume?

You could set up both of them identically. So the same network name, and the same protocol (A,B,G,N) but different channels. Your wireless network card should roam between the two then.

yeah wireless network. too much concret in my house restricts the coverage. i am a big rookie with this stuff. i know how to get most of it working, my main expertise is cars. i suck with computers. i was told but the people i bought it off i can make them work as one. i just have no clue at all how.
so i put the modem router in first whcih is upstairs and then i did the router this arvo down stairs, connected through a wall eathernet socket, and i installed the cd and i think it un-installed the modem router stuff, working like shit now. giving me alot of trouble just trying to get decent coverage!
help would be much appreciated, like i said, im a full rookie with this stuff.

Uhmm ok. This should be good. You need to figure out the ip address of both the routers. It depends on how you've set them up. Could you post an ipconfig excerpt of your network card when you're connected to either of the networks?

im pretty sure both of the ipv4 address's are the same... 192.168.2.2 ?
how i set them up was plug them in and make them work haha....

They usually have a web interface through which you can configure stuff. So you need to know the ip address of both. And they're unique. So they can't both be 192.168.2.2.

Don't want to hijack the thread but I'm having a similar problem. I purchased a new router to extend the coverage in my house and I still have the old one collecting dust. The back of the house still has dead spots. I tried plugging in the old router in the back of the house and all it did was make my phone service stop working.
Is it possible to make my old router into a wireless extender of my network without a cable hooking it to the main router?

The only way to do that is to update the router to run ddwrt firmware but not all routers can be updated to it. What routers do you have?

Would this solution work?
You could plug the second router into a port on the first router and disable dns, dhcp, and forward the gateway to router 1

My new router is Linksys 2000. The old router is a two year old cheap DLink, sorry I don't have the exact model number for you.
I'd guess that since the old router is fairly cheap I won't be able to connect it with wwdrt firmware?

I looked them up. My new router is capable but the old one is a DLink DIR601. That exact model isn't listed, but the dir600 is not capable and the dir 605 is listed at wip?

I'd like to help you, but if you don't answer my questions i can't. I seem to be missing my crystal ball.:P
