    Computer Build

That is an outrageous price for a 6-core, 8GB RAM, no-SSD, RX560 build. Cisco's build will run corners around for your described workload - especially in gaming.

    Socket Intel News

That's quite impressive, even if they pull 300W and burn a few villages at those speeds

    Socket Intel News

https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/matthew-wilson/computex-intel-makes-skylake-x-and-kaby-lake-x-official-18c36t-core-i9-heads-the-lineup/ This is pretty cheap if true. The i7-6950X goes for $2100 in Denmark, $1650 if you adjust for taxes etc.

    Vista Will Not Update

Windows XP still lets you use Windows Update in 2017, that I can say for sure. Otherwise, try PortUp. It's an isolated updater and works with Vista. On Windows 8.1 it took 14 hours to find updates, while Windows Update took 22 hours.

    My Graphics Drivers Aren't Working!

This is just a shot in the dark, but if you use GRUB as a bootloader: Press a key to stop it from autobooting your default OS. Mark your OS and press "e". This should allow you to edit boot parameters. Find "quiet" and "splash", change them to "noquiet" and "nosplash". I believe it's then Ctrl-X...

Buying Gaming Pc, need help if it's good or not

That's outrageously cheap friend. He's from Scandinavia like me, and I could sell that system for ~$700 within a week - excluding any of the peripherals or monitors.

    Vista Will Not Update

While you are in Safe Mode, it doesn't hurt to do a "cleanmgr.exe" from the Run tool and check all boxes.

    Vista Will Not Update

Go to "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\" and delete all the content of the folder. You can only do this if you boot Safe Mode or entirely shut down the Update service. Easiest to do in Safe Mode (spam F8 while turning PC on). Windows Update is a turd in terms of speed for any OS these days...

    AMD CPU/Socket Discussion Thread

Everything is relative :) And considering Intels current offering of 16c/32t: E7-4850 v4 2.8GHz = $3000 E5-4660 v4 3.0GHz = $4725 E5-2697A v4 3.6GHz = $2900 I'm fairly confident AMD will be cheaper, and possibly higher clocked as well, than either of these. Those are full turbo...

If that gives me a cheap 16c/32t CPU they can call it whatever :P

    *Beta* Black Hole Benchmark V5

I have .NET 4.6.2 installed. I'll test on a different Windows 7 tomorrow. Not sure why :/

    *Beta* Black Hole Benchmark V5

Is it a problem if it's run on Windows 7?

    Pimp My PC!

IPS will give you better colors. In a game like GTA V or Battlefield 3 (and I assume the later ones), it's a world of difference compared to normal TN monitors. I would always recommend IPS, with the exception of the BenQ XL2411Z, which is a 144hz TN monitor. Very good for competitive FPS games...

    Windows 10 time always resets

Windows 10 can be pretty stupid regarding time zones and such. If replacing the battery doesn't work: In the old control panel go to Clock, Languange, and Region. Check your settings under Region and Language, preferably not automatic settings. Note that changing any of these settings can...

    Pc upgrade for recording/streaming

That should be a decent PSU. Not the best, but surely far from the worst. Are you from Finland by any chance? Without streaming, an i5+HD6950 can't really play OW above low-medium settings. I think it's going to be hard to make a noticable difference for $350, but I would start with a Ryzen...

How much better is Ryzen? Really?

The closest competition in terms of core count and use-case would be the i7-6900K. Intel doesn't really have a mainstream or prosumer CPU at the same pricepoint, so it's hard to compare that. I'm not saying it's daft to compare the 1800X with the 7700K though, actually quite interesting in my...

How much better is Ryzen? Really?

I would argue it's almost the opposite of, specifically, the i7-7700K. The i7 is a high-GHz low-core count CPU, while the Ryzen is a low-GHz high-core count number cruncher.

How much better is Ryzen? Really?

With the CPU-Z bench, my i7-2600K at 4.4GHz gets roughly 1850 single core, while my Ryzen at 4.1GHz gets 2250. And my i7 will beat the crap out of your Phenom :D MOAR GHZ plz

    Questions regarding components for build

You should get any PSU within your budget from XFX, Seasonic or Corsair. If there's a gold on sale at the price of a bronze, obviously get it. But don't put too much weight on it.

    Overclocking and keeping it permanently

Have you seen the amount of data MS collects? The Basic level is 90% of the Full level, and it's full of personally identifiable data :) But enough about that, VCR King, unplug all your disks and you should be able to boot in to the BIOS. There you can most likely configure the time you have to...
