Well the hard drive is fine. If you're gonna be gaming i would suggest upgrading the video card. If not then thats fine. If you're upgrading the motherboard you may have to upgrade the memory as well. If you gave a spending limit it might be easier to help you out.

in other words no you don't need to buy a fan. I just looked at the case and i don't see how you could get one in the front there and it be adequate. I may be wrong but thats how i would go about it. Seems a fan in the top would do some good they should have remedied that.

G skill isn't terrible its better to go with a well trusted name brand though in my opinion but if you're short on cash beggars can't be choosers. I wouldn't buy any RAM that didn't have a recommended use of high performance or gaming.

i would advise against the x dreamer case..i have that case and i don't really care for it. its spacious but the LEDs are quite annoying and after 2 months they all stopped working which solved my issue with them but it took the front 2 USB ports along with them.

hey man and welcome to the forums. I gotta say for $1000 i think you could build something you would be much happier with. This is just my opinion of course. Are you an AMD fan or is there another reason you chose that particular CPU? You say 3d designing and gaming to me intel is the way to go...
