    could you take a photo of your problem with the video card not lining up if thats possible? dropping a screw on it wont hurt it, if the cpu fan doesnt come off if you pull with a fair force then its probably on right. tipping the computer upside down and levering the screw with a flathead...

    no, hard drive size:price ratios are silly. Should run vista fine, don't see why not. I've put it on an old 20GB hdd before now so I wouldn't worry about it

    hi, welcome to the forum! yes you can find out what your motherboard is (open it up, it should have a model number on it) then look on the website of the motherboard manufacturer and see what they say about it.

    yeh i tried a budget last time and it failed so I wasn't gonna suggest a budget this time and see what you guys come up with...just as cheap as you can without being complete rubbish.

    I think the problem is that its decided to use extended desktop or something. If you have 2 monitors try plugging one into the onboard and one into the card and see what you get on the screen. If you get the desktop up on one of them them go to control panel -> display properties -> settings...

    its possible that its the psu, If you've got another one you can try then I suggest that, otherwise go buy one. If its not that then atleast you've got a better psu :)

    Ok then, seen as the last one failed I'll try again. I'm looking for a cheap upgrade for my PC (basically Mobo, CPU, RAM and GPU...maybe a PSU aswell) thats not really a great computer but has lots of room for upgrading later. noting the word "cheap" btw just so you don't get too carried away...

    thats not actually what PC eye meant. You can download a gparted cd that will boot straight into the partition manager. its an easy step by step procedure. the first time I did it I didn't have a clue what I was doing.
