    Computer lifespan

Off Topic: I imagine, if the forum owner was that concerned about it, he / she would probably set threads to automatically lock, after X length of time. On Topic: I purchased a Toshiba laptop in Auckland, NZ, during a visit there in 2006. The ol' gal ran until 2013. I have since gone back to...

Linking a WiFi router to a 4G modem / router

The internet provider has another modem / router, which does have a LAN (RJ45) port on the rear of the unit, in place of the USB port. The only problem is, it is also a slower model. I think it will give me half the connection speed this one has. This unit runs between 5 and 6 Megabits down...

Linking a WiFi router to a 4G modem / router

I have a 4G modem / router. Attached to it, I have an external 9 dB gain omnidirectional antenna, located 7 meters atop a pole, just outside my home. The modem / router receives a 4G signal from an antenna array high up a tower, located 5.02 kilometers from here. Anything within a few meters...

Is a flash drive almost the same as an external HD?

I definitely agree with that statement, dell. The fake drives will show to be say, a 64 gig drive. But, say you have XX gigs already on the drive, and attempt to add more files, the new files overwrite the previous files. Buy a flash drive if you wish. But, buy it from a reputable retailer...

    "System Reserved" drive appeared suddenly?

Some of my C: drive was freed up, finally. But, I had to reboot several times, before it would install the updates. The I: drive did disappear after the first reboot, though.

    "System Reserved" drive appeared suddenly?

Mine did it too, after updating last night. After rebooting, the drive disappeared. But, one thing I noticed after this upgrade, was my C: drive is now almost full. Prior to this, my drive had almost half of its available space.

Need a recommendation for a case with 4 USB 3.0 ports on front

I can buy any motherboard for it. This will be a new build. My apologies. I should have stated this before. Sorry. I'm in Cambodia. I can buy from anywhere in the US and have it shipped to my brother's home. A computer savvy nephew will build the machine and set it up for use, as I am not...

Need a recommendation for a case with 4 USB 3.0 ports on front

Anyone know of a case, right off, that offers 4 built in USB 3.0 ports on the front of the case? Yes, I realize I could add a 4 port hub to a bay. But, I would prefer not doing that, if possible.

    SSD vs. HDD?

    Definitely faster with an SSD.

    Desktop Computer

It's not like a federal crime, or anything. It's just slower RAM. Also, I would suggest installing an SSD in as your C: Drive, which will help the machine to boot faster.

The one I am on at the moment is an old Dell Optiplex 3020 with 16g of RAM. It's 4 years old. I imagine hey still build them ok. Like @beers suggested, I would get DDR4 RAM. Personally, I would go with 16g, over 8g, though.
