This may sound mad but to save money I use the built in keyboard instead of a real keyboard. The good thing about it with windows 8 it's a lot better as the words come up above the keys making it faster to type. The bad thing is that you need proper keyboard to play games unless they are ones...

I find vizzed a good website for free online games. They are retro ones though. All the old ones from Pokemon and Gamboy, Gameboy Colour and Gameboy Advanced.

That's helpful and I also uninstalled the programs that were causing the ads and they are coming on less frequently now.

It's a new computer. One thing that's causing the ads is this extension called Browser Guard which must not be a good thing. It can't be disabled stays on enabled.
