i recently bought a toshiba satellite laptop that comes with 512 mb of RAM... it is a Kingston 512 mb 2700 DDR SODIMM... i wanted to add another Kingston 1 GB to it... is that a good idea? (knowing that different brands with different speeds and etc.. can change its effectiveness) i didn't want to buy a whole new set and waste one of the memory cards and i didn't want to buy just another 512 to make it 1 GB.

my laptop supports up to 2 GB of RAM with only two slots. any help is appreciated...

here is something unrelated to what i asked above..
i found a 1 GB 2700 DDR SODIMM (comes in two 512) for approx. $100
a 2 GB 2700 DDR SODIMM (comes in two 1 GB) for approx. $250
---is that a good deal?

another thing... what is the difference between the pins? theres 100, 144, 200, 240...and so forth ??

mines is the 200. but will that be a good setup? the 1 GB with the 512 mb
it will be a welcome increase. And you will prob see the difference.
NB If you buy ram that runs at a faster clock speed it will be down clocked to the speed of your current ram - but thats no biggy

alright cool thanks... so it shouldn't be any problem with a 512 running with a 1 GB both Kingston, same speed, etc..

alright thanks. how about.. this.. i found the above memory (post i used to start the thread) .. are they at a good decent price? and i found a set of Kingston 2 gb for 189 flat-free shipping also.. good deal?
