ok....#1 im trying to come out as cheap as possible on ram (ddr2) but i do want the best cheapest ram i can get :) is there much of a diff in the name brands or is it just a name? i found 2x2gb (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820211271) is it just as good as any other ram?

next question--

can you hook up an older hard drive (non sata) to a MOBO thats sata? is there both hook ups? (im about to be ordering the rest of my parts and im just curious if i can stick my old slave drive in my new PC)

last question,

when you hook up two hard drives in raid, how exactly do you do that? is it just moving the jumper on the back?

if you dont need 2gb sticks, check out Corsair XMS2 ram. yes, you can hook up IDE harddrives to a new board as long as it has the port, however most newer boards will not let you use the IDE hard drive in a RAID configuration. To set up RAID, the easiest way is through the motherboard's BIOS, just remember you will need to install third party SATA/RAID drivers when you install windows

i went with dual channel because its umm... it runs in two channels and therefore performs a little better.

i also went with 2 hard drives in raid 0 for my system disk. i dont suggest storing all your data on it though, only stuff like programs that you have on a cd or dvd elsewhere. all my music and videos are on my 250gb hard drive.

the ADATA ram is fine i have used it before an it's still going in my old computer.

an to set up a RAID you just go in the BIOS. but to install windows on it you have to install the drivers found on your MOBO disk.

yea my raid drivers require a floppy drive, no biggy cost me like $10 but you do need to make sure your motherboard supports the raid unless you're going to buy the pci card for it.
