Edited your build a bit. No offense, but some of the parts you picked are terrible. I replaced the Coolmax PSU with an Xclio 500w, the 4870 with a HIS 5770, the case with a Coolermaster Storm Scout and the HDD with a W/D caviar black.

Haha no problem, we are trying to help him with the best build possible, right? :p

Thx, with those added in and a 5770 my new total is $1079

Any way to make it better or is this the best for the price?

remember that OEM windows will only be usable on that system, so you'll only be able to make minor changes to the hardware beyond which the OEM license wont be usable anymore. By the time you decide to make major upgrades to your system or buy a whole new system you may decide to go with a newer version of Windows but look at all the people that are still using XP even after 2 newer versions have been released. If the retail version can be transferred to a newer system(s) and basically atleast double the length of time you use that operating system, isnt it worth paying double for it?

Hmmm, i do not intent to upgrade in a while and im also on a budget so a retail ver will not be an option.

I also got a question,
Will a HD 4850 play most modern games at a mid- high settings?
How is the quality of the case i picked? im not sure how to tell

If its the 1gb version then then ya mid settings will run smoothly, not high settings smoothly though for the highest end games like Crysis. For the case quality just read the reviews and weigh the pros vs the cons.

In gaming performance, there won't be a big difference. The GPU will matter more.

When overclocked, there's not a huge difference in an i3 and a Phenom II quad in general use, and again, gaming performance will vary little.

Can you guarantee that 555 can be unlocked to Quad ? Not all of them can be unlocked as far as I know

i3 performs much better than locked PII 555
