I am building a budget computer for 1000 USD. I came up with the following. Please no scrutiny about Socket 754, I am aware of that. I have decided to go with Sempron 64 ;) for a budgetty system of the following components:

AMD Sempron 64 2800+ (Socket 754) (Target for OC 2.5Ghz)
DFI nF4x (Infinity) - (Test reveal up to 390 Mhz stable)
1 GB Kingmax PC3500 CL 2.5 RAM
160GB Hitachi Deskstar T7K250
GigaByte MAYA GV-NX66128DP2 Turbo 128MB (500/1000),PCI-E
17" Acer AL1715s monitor (12ms)
Creative Labs I-Trigue 3200 2.1
+ the other essentials :)

I think that this PC will be very powerful for normal use.

All this for less than 1000 USD. It seems like a cool setup to me. What do you think? What would you change or what setup would you suggest for 1000 USD? I would prefer AMD but am open to other suggestions if they represent a better deal.

semperon 64? never heard of that before. I'm pretty sure amd athlon 64 s754's aren't that expensive eaither. I got my 2800 for only 113 with fan and heatsink and thermal paste.
