Well I've done all my research, took the time to look around, and came up with this list for my next build for now and college. I will build it once the 45nm come out in January. This computer will be used for video editing and gaming, along with other things, but those two are the most demanding.

The budget is $1000
Will build in January

Corsair 550VX 120mm 80+ Power Supply ($100)

Asus P5K-VM LGA 775 G33 Micro ATX Motherboard ($119)

Q9450 2.66ghz 12mb L2 cache OEM CPU ($316)

G.Skill 4GB (2 X 2GB) DDR2-800 Ram ($120)

Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512mb 256-bit PCI Express x16 Video Card ($219)

Lite-On Black SATA DVD Burner ($29)

Scyth PWM 120mm fan ($10)

Antec Tricool 120mm Green LED Fan ($13)

Already Have:

Cooler Master Gemin II CPU Heatsink ($29)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103026&Tpk=geminII

Western Digital Caviar II 400GB SATAII 8mb cache Hard drive ($42)

Total: $979

As for the graphics card, right now I have my eyes on the HD 3870, but if the 8800GT 256mb edition is cheaper I will likely switch to that, as it has a single slot cooler. Feel free to leave any suggestions/comments. Remember, this computer has to be portable, thus the a light case. The budget is $1000.

edit: Well, I know I said that the case needs a handle, but I couldn't pass up a free Cooler Master Elite, so I went ahead and ordered it.

Switch to newegg's $70 Antec 900..

And change to OCZ's 700W...

I say spend more on a GFX... 8800GT ;)

So you might have to live with 4x 1GB...

Read the post...

1) The Antec 900 isn't exactly portable, at least in my opinion it isn't.
2) I said that I might go with the 8800gt 256mb
3) Yes I am thinking about the OCZ 700W, I'll make my decision when I buy it according to which ones cheaper
4) Currently 4 X 1GB isn't that much cheaper than 2 x 2GB

Aww... That's new :D

Buy one at a time :p:p

Still $10-$15 cheaper :p:D:p:D

Yeah i actually thought of that before, buying two different brands of ram that have MIR, but eventually decided against it because...

a) I'm lazy and don't want to do MIR ;)
b) might have issues with motherboard
c) 2 X 2gb leaves room for upgrade, not that I'm ever gonna need 8 gigs of ram

Look at the 3870 again
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102713

The price has gone up due to the demmand. I was actually lucky buying mine.. I searched for it on the site and it said out of stock when i click on it it says its in stock so.. always check it to make sure.

Oh wow, what the hell Newegg. Now NOBODY is going to buy it as it cost the same as the better performing 8800GT. I don't know what they're thinking...BAD MOVE NEWEGG. Oh well, I'll just wait for the 256mb 8800gt:p.
