The problem seen here when ordering the tuner card was no software for video capturing that came included with the previous card that simply quit one day. The new capture card lacked the Ultra TV software and didn't even work! But when deciding to try out the software including a newer version of PowerDVD on the tuner card those worked well. Otherwise someone would have seen a rmaed card real fast.

8800GTS 320mb = Boo! Fine for you to play on medium but for high... BOO! Get a 640mb 8800GTS or get an 8800GTX all together

Depends on what games you want to play. I doubt any games today will give the 8800GTS 320mb a hard time paired up with a Q6600 and 4 gigs of ram.

Mpst games will run on high settings with older cards. The actual need for a $300 card is for a more elaborate gaming build for that higher price. 4gb of memory? Will your friend be running a 64bit version of Windows like XP Pro or Vista? The 3gb barrier comes into play with the 32bit versions.

He'll be running 64-bit vista, I was too lazy to list it.

On lcds the thing to really look at for a gaming build is the response time. The BenQ 17" still in use here due to a small space to work sees a 12ms! That's a slow boat compared to better models by the same brand seeing a low 2ms. over 1280x1024 is more for large screens over 19" there where you have to weigh that in. Under 8ms is generally good.

For reading text on a 17" or 19" model especially a 17" you wouldn't want over that size resolution selected for sure. The 19' simply allows more screen size for things over the 17".
