16Gb Flash Drive - only 13mm thick

Nice one

It's nice to see how technology is progressing. Not long ago, something like that was unthinkable for the normal customer. Way to go ;)

it is 3mm think, the title was a typo, lol, sorry about that, yeh, 3mm thick and 16Gb, i serisously dont know how they are doing that.... it cant be conventional Flash Memory modules, because they are thicker than 3mm alone, not icluding the circuits etc...

I have a 64M card that thick...not nearly that large, though. Dad has a 256M that thickness, too. I was hoping to see one more like a USB pen drive, but that still is impressive.

Finally

We will finally soon have flash MP3 players of 16GB and so on. It would be great and more durable. I am not a big fan of HDD players because much like HDDs in a PC, they are mechanical devices which can, and will, die on you. Flash technology is much less likely to do that. Yay!

Yeah, the only problem with that drive is it's the length of a laptop drive. As The Other One said, it will be a feat when they reduce the size to that of pen drives

very nice!!!!!! but what’s the transfer rate?
If you’ve ever seen a silicon chip you will then know how they do it, its easy just integrate 8 2gb chip on one layer and there you have it. I heard somewhere that a laptop had like 1tb ram and more in hdd space and the cpu was insane compared to today’s!?!?!?!

you make it sound liek every 14 yearold across the globe can knock one up in a weekend, lol, if it were that easy, dont you think they would have done it years ago....

anyway, yeh, i can see jan's point about flash mp3 players, good for joggin, now you can jog for days, non-stop, with 16gb of music to keep you company..... he he he

Yes I know it sounds like that but I cant help my self hehehe:) but anyway being in the electronic engineering and service industry I have seen what they can do with the technology today, through research they have come up with some nice stuff these days.

SanDisk has an 4 and 8gb cards so why cant you integrate 4 of them into a card? In my speculation you should be able to integrate about 70gb on a credit card size and about 2mm thick......beats me
