Is there a difference between a 1280 x 1024 19 inch monitor and a 1280 x 1024 17 inch monitor (LCD)? As in terms of how much performance you need for your video card. My 2 options are:

1. Buy a 17 inch monitor, and a 7600gt video card ($140+$130=$270)
2. Buy a 20.1 inch monitor, and get a dx10 card - spend ALOT more money. ($300+$230=$530 almost doubled! but a 20.1 inch is so tempting)
I would only go for choice 2 if there is no difference between a 17 and 19 inch LCD at the same recolution, and that 7600gt cant really perform well at such resolutions.

However, I will choose choice 1 IF someone can confirm that the video card (or a video card at around the same price) can perform well under the 1280 x 1024 resolutions (in moderate gaming, such as Fear, Counterstrike, and World of warcraft).

The difference between a 17 and 19 is 2 inches, a 20.1 would be a badass monitor, it all depends on how much you want to spend.

i know the "size" difference... but what is the difference in terms of the performance of your video card in order to run the resolution smoothly. In other words, would a 7600 gt perform the same when using a 19 inch or a 17 inch LCD monitor?

if the resolutions are the same then yes.

I know most 17 and 19 inch monitors are both 1280x1024.

I think it depends on the specs of the monitor and whether or not its widescreen. An XFX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 card supports a resolution up to 2560 x 1600, the highest resolution 17" montior I could find was dual monitor at 2560x1024. The others were 1440x900(these are only widescreens). The same goes for 19" screens. 1 dual 19" monitor at 2560x1024 and 31 others at 1440x900. As for the 20.1" screens, the resolution requirements go up a little on those to 1680 x 1050(there is one 1280x1024 but why?) so I'm guessing there is a little more performance draw from those.

I can't see any reason why a 17" would perform any better than a 19"

EDIT: ^^beat me to it :p
