$175 Card

Im looking to buy a new computer within the month. Im looking to spend about 175 USD on a card. Less would be nice but thats about max. Im looking more for price profomance ratio rather than the latest greatest. Im open to both ATI and nVidia.

I was thinking about HD3870 (and thats a little cheaper i think).

Whats the best card for that price?

When are 4800s comming out for ATI and how will they compare.

Yes the 4800's are going to be showing up this month, although I believe it's just the 4850 that will be here in June. The 4870 will be in July, and then the 4870X2 will be here in the fall.

For the price ($135), the 3870 is an excellent card for the price.

I've got a feeling the 4800 series will outperform the disappointing 9800 series and I think ATI will gain back their respect and sales in the next few years.

nVidia is releasing their newest series this month as well, they are predicting it will be out before ATI's 4800 series. nVidia will still be ahead, but the 4800's are going to be very competitive in terms of pricing.
