19" 3:4 or widescreen monitor...which is better?

Hey guys, i was just looking for the best monitor to buy; currently looking at a benq 19" 8ms 3:4 monitor and an acer al1916w, which is an 8ms 16:9 widescreen monitor. The Benq costs me $AU390 whilst the Acer costs me arnd $AU440 (in Australia, its RRP is $AU690 but there is some discount in this Asian store). Which one would you suggest I get up with? BTW, which is actually bigger in area (note: this is not abt the diagonal length; just which screen has larger AREA, the widescreen or the 3:4)? - Thnx
 
Well, what do you intend to use it for, mostly? The widescreens can be great for movies, etc..., but can be annoying at other times, particularly when gaming, since many games aren't designed for that aspect ratio. You have a greater screen area with the 4:3.

Don't believe everything you're told about the price. www.msy.com.au sell that Acer at $425AUD. Searching through www.staticice.com.au is a good way to find out the best price on computer hardware in Australia.
 
Awesome dude...Thanks a million. This site is just fricken crazy - too much info lol. I ve actually got better stuff at the same price than I was really expecting for...Thanks a lot to u. My expectations were indeed deceivingly low.
 
i got gateway 21" HD wide screen and i love it... much better then regular lcd's... its amazing with games too, i will never go back to normal lcds ;)
 
20" widescreen (16:10) here too. I love mine, and it's very hard to use 4:3 now. gaming isnt an issue, especially since most new games either have WS capabilities or because you can just switch the display mode to widescreen (quake 4, for instance).
