1GB sick vs 2 512MB

Does it make any difference If I have a 1GB stick of RAM in the PC compared to two sticks of 512MB (same speed and everything, just different size)? Thanks.

Two 512MB sticks may or may not be faster, but they definitely won't be slower. It depends on whether your CPU has a dual-channel memory controller or not. What CPU do you have?

It's for a laptop (Dell Latitude D600), its has a Pentium M.
