So I got a couple weeks to save the money up for this system so if I start getting annoying with all these questions please slap me around a bit. :P

Since I am not going with crossfire/sli I was thinking of upgrading my GPU to something like this
ASUS EAH4870 DK/HTDI/1GD5 Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported (dark knight)

worth it?

Also feeling shaky on my ram, would any of you feel more confortable with this?

Just to comment on your monitor, with the HD4870, games getting more advanced, and blu-ray getting less expensive, if you can squeeze an extra $30, I would seriously consider going full HD (1920x1080), like the Acer H213H.

Thanks for the response! Would my upgrading the GPU make any difference with an HD monitor?

Aww I dislike ATI video cards.

Would this make you happier? Do i need HDMI out?

the 4850 and the 4870 will outpreform the 9800gtx easily. i would stick the the 4870, and i dont know why people hate ati. there 4000 series are the best cards for the price right now.

I was thinking the same thing.

How do you like your mother board?

And "KaBone" I am not convinced on getting an HD monitor. My cost is slowly rising above target and I am thinking HD may not be priority atm.

I just had problems with drivers, and other help getting several games setup to run on an ATi card. Maybe that was 4 yrs ago so things have changed. I here the 4850 and then even the 260 are awesome but how might get 5-10 fps more with the increase in cost doesn't seem right.

I believe as long as the gpu and monitor both support HDMI and HDCP, any gpu will do from an HD standpoint. The choice to upgrade gpu cards is more related to memory, speed, pixel and shader processors, and budget.

i like my motherboard. but it seems like the one you picked out earlier might be better for overclocking and the one i have is pretty picky with ram and only will take 1.8v. might want to check with the other mobo to see what kind of ram it needs.

Gigabyte UD3R is much better than DS3L. New ones look cool and I have used about 5-7 of them already and they are great for overclocking, look at my specs below.
Also I'm not fan of ATI but they are good. I did have problem with a few 4850 and 4870 and my ViewSonic monitor- no picture when you install drivers, it's a known bug and no one has a solution - even ATI/AMD is silent on it.
