1st Build Nightmare

Hi everyone. I recently sold my laptop and decided to build a computer for music production. Well it is turning out to be a nightmare, as nothing powers on. I used an antistatic wrist band and kept myself grounded at all times, so I'm pretty sure that I didn't blow anything. Also, all of the components are brand new. Here is what I have:

Gigabyte GA-F2A68HM-H motherboard
AMD A series processor
CPU fan
WD 1tb hard drive
EVGA 500w 80 plus power supply
Crucial Ballistix 2x4gb (8gb) memory
5 Coolmax Chameleon 120 fans
...and I have a fan controller coming in the mail

Here are my connections:

24pin ATX cable to motherboard
4pin EPS12V to motherboard
CPU fan to motherboard
Tower shell usb, audio, reset, power, etc to motherboard
SATA from hard drive to power supply
SATA from hard drive to motherboard
MOLEX Fans to power supply

I've been researching for days and can't figure anything out. I did the paperclip trick to my power supply, and it works. Am I missing something here? Do you think that something is wrong with my motherboard? I really need help bad. I can't afford to go to an expert.

Thank you all for your time.

What exact processor do you have? Did you use the standoffs between motherboard and case?

I forgot to screw in the standoffs! The motherboard was flat against the case! Everything works fine now. I am so lucky that I didn't blow anything. Thank you so much!

Yeah, that will definitely do it. You only put the standoffs where the holes are on the motherboard right?

Stand offs don't earth anything just prevent shorting on the case. Proven by using perspex cases/

Well now, unfortunately, I'm having an even bigger issue. I get a black screen when booting up. The first time I booted it up, the Gigabyte logo appeared on the screen for a second and then disappeared. Now all I get is a black screen with the mouse pointer on it. None of the USB ports work for the mouse and keyboard, but the HDMI built into the motherboard works. All of my fans light up, and the CPU fan works. I don't hear any beeps or anything from the motherboard, and I don't think that there is an led on it to state if there is a problem. I took everything out and reinstalled it. I still have the same result. I tried taking out the ram sticks one by one and still nothing. I did the same with the hard drive also. Furthermore, I reset the CMOS manually with a screwdriver.

As asked earlier, I'm using an AMD A4-7300 AMU Dual Core processor.

Any suggestions? Maybe I fried my motherboard?

Build the motherboard outside of the case on a piece of cardboard and see if it boots up correctly. Bad hardware would also cause this to happen but lets rule out motherboard grounding out first.

And what do you mean you reset cmos with a screwdriver? No screwdriver is needed to do this.

So you no longer see the Gigabyte logo, or any text on the screen that shows up during POST?
Not at all. The screen turns black with the mouse cursor on the screen when I boot up, then the tv shows no signal for a second, then it appears again with a black screen with only the mouse cursor on it.

This may seem like a dumb question, but do I need a graphics card? I bought an AMU processor thinking that I wouldn't need to get one.

I'll try doing this now.

I used a screwdriver to connect the two pins.

Unplug power from power supply, remove cmos battery, press the power button on the case for 10 seconds then wait 10 minutes. Then reinsert battery and reconnect power and try booting up.

Then try building it outside of the case and we'll go from there.
Well this is odd. I rebuilt it outside of the case and it is booting up. The USB ports work now, too. The thing that is puzzling me is that I plugged everything EXACTLY the way I had it before. The motherboard wasn't touching the shell at all when it was installed, so I'm not too sure what the problem was. I don't want the same thing to happen. I'm going to set up the bios, install windows, put everything back in the shell, and check back in with you guys.
