1st build

I'm new here, looking to get some advice/thoughts/input on a build I have been putting together. I've never done this before (my current computer is 7 yrs old or so) and have decided to take a base model XPS 410 and add to it. I don't necessarily do any hardcore gaming, but I want something that will perform well for what I do play (Oblivion, Guild Wars, HOM&M V, Civ) and hopefully has some staying power. I will not be overclocking. I'd like to keep the price around $2,000, although I am open to suggestions if the added cost would have a large impact.
Here's what I am looking at so far:

Pre-built:
XPS 410 case, mobo (P965 BTX), power supply (375W)

Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.40 GHz 4MB shared L2 cache)

Vista Home Premium OS

320GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache

16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW)

13 in 1 Media Card Reader and 3.5 in Floppy Drive

(I would be removing the memory and vc that are included and adding to my existing machine)

total is about $1100

Upgrades:
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB SUPERCLOCKED video card

OCZ Plat. 2GB DDR2 800 RAM

OR
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Samsung 226BW 22" monitor

Samsung 18x DVD/48X CD burner

Creative Sound Blaster x-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16829102006

Logitech x-230 32 watt 2.1 speakers
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16836121119

SYBA PCI 1394a firewire card
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16815124003

total again is about $1100 for a grand total of $2200.

The main questions I have right now:
Do I have enough of a power supply?
Any problems with the 800 (PC2 6400) memory?
Performance of the moniter?

Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome, thanks.

sorry about the links - should be fixed.

PSU is def one of my concerns, I have heard the stock performs well, but suggestions to replace are welcome.

Your mobo P965 BTX - this form factor isn't or hasn't been selling all too well in the market. But since you chose this choice, which model in particular where you considering?

You are confusing me a bit here, first above you said you were going to pull some memory from your existing machine, and here you posted two choices of memory?

another thing to look at is that is a dell xps corect if so you may not be able to change the power supply in one and make sure it has a pci express slot for your new video card and make sure that you dont have to use dell only memory in your computer it looks pretty good for upgrades but check it all out first

Get at least a PSU with 500 watts or more since you will be running a lot of stuff that consumes power like mad (mostly the geforce 8800)

He's going to buy a prebuild computer from dell and then "upgrade" some of the things that comes for default in the case/mobo

I've decided to buy a dell and then upgrade various components because I have never built a computer, figured it would be a lot easier to start with a half built system and go from there. Also I've heard good things about the limited noise from the BTX set-up and have not seen too many BTX cases and mobos on the market.

not sure on the specifics of the mobo as it would be from dell

definitely been looking into this, I know there are no problems with diff memory. Been looking at alternative PSU that last day or two, shouldn't be a problem (due to it being a dell) to replace that, really don't know what I want for it though.

if you are upgrading that much, you are better off building. you can build all that and save like 300 bucks, and get more performance from your mobo, PSU, and case

he could save like 400 or 500$, anyway i agree that you are better building it than buying it from dell or another company.

BTW do a search for dell psu and you'll find some persons had been having troubles with making new stuff working on a dell, mostly PSU's
