Hey all,
I know there are a million of these out there, but I would be extremely grateful if you could just look over my parts list and let me know if everything will work. I have spent a ton of time researching and I think all the pieces are correct, but because it is my first time, I would feel better having someone(s) who know what they are doing take a look.

Mobo: ECS Motherboard AMD 880G ATX DDR3 1600 AM3 Motherboard A885GM-A2

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Processor (ADX640WFGMBOX)

PSU: LOGISYS Computer PS550E12 550W ATX12V Power Supply

Video Card: SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6670 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (11192-22-20G)

RAM: Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory Model KVR16N11S8/4

I have the chassis and HD already, so don't need to worry about those. I'm mainly looking for a >250$ unit to run sc2 (low settings is fine). If you see something wrong, please let me know. Thank you so much for your time!!

Save more money so you can get better parts. You'll need to change your power supply and motherboard. And if your going quad core, get the 965. Where do you plan on getting your parts from?

ECS motherboards are pretty lowend.

For what a Athlon II 640 cost you can get a FX-4100 for 10 bucks more.

Logisys power supplies are junk.

Memory, make sure you get two 2gb. sticks, not one 4gb. stick. With two sticks it will run in dual channel.

It isn't much to go up to the 965 is it? Changed.
I didn't realize the advantage of two sticks. Changed.

I have my mobo and cpu from amazon 53 & 82 respectively.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 AM3 3.4Ghz 512KB 45NM 125W 4000MHZ

I have everything else from Newegg.
graphics card: 50
psu: 20
ram: CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMV4GX3M2A1333C9

Q: do I need to change the powersupply or motherboard, or do I need to swap out both?

I went ahead and moved to your suggested motherboard. Also, with the rebate, the CPU will work as well. I suppose a solid power supply is necessary. I don't want to skimp on that. I grabbed the CPU from amazon and still came in at 251. Not bad for a get-me-through the school year computer.

Thank you so much!
