Hi everyone 1st post on this site, i was to referred to for computer questions. computerforum.com sounds good to me  so..

Whenever I try to play any type of video on my windows media player, these green bars show up on top of the video, and is obviosly really annoying. Does anyone know what the problem is? My 4 year old computer has started to get really slowed down and annoying in many ways lately.
Below is a screenshot, any help is appreciated

First, what are the specs of your pc and your video card? There can be some firmware updates that may be of use to you.

Secondly, what is the extension of the file? (like .avi, .mpg, .wma, etc.).
There could be some codec issues that you may need or may need to update. Do you have any other media players such as Winamp, VLC, Bs Player, etc. that you tried playing the video on also to see if the results are the same.

this is because you tried to play 2 videos at the same time
the first video will play fine
this one will show bars
i noticed 2 webpages see if there is any streaming in there

Im not too sure what specs are needed, i got a Radeon 9200, its not like the specs have been downgraded since before the problem. So I tried a .mpeg, it works fine, now try a .avi, it works fine, now try the original file that had a problem (wmv) and it works fine too! Well i'll keep you posted if it happens again, which i'm guessing it probably will.

Sounds like the problem Shady described!

I get it with my system. Have something demanding in the background like MTA:SA, when trying to watch tv on my system I will never get any display, sound is fine but I cant get video or playback because the card is rendering the other app.

hm thats weird, thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure neither of those windows had any video streaming, but I'll keep that in mind.
