2.0GB Ram

I have a Dell Dimension 3100 and put in 2 1 GB slots. It's there but only uses about 550 Mb which is about what I had before. Someone mentioned the BIOS but for me is like explaining the ocean looking at a glass of water. HELP !

I think it should be any of the F keys, or maybe Delete, try pressing them during your POST Screen.



Also, does windows recognise your full 2GB?

Im not terribly sure myself, but mother boards are only designed to run with so much memory. If your dell came with 512 megs, the motherboard is most likely not designed to run with anything more. Also, you might have to make sure the timing on the memory is set up right. (which im also not too sure about how to do)

Usually F1 key enters the bios, could be delete also.

And what do you mean it only uses 550megs of it? Do you mean that when you look in memory usage page it says only 550mb?
