which one is faster? .. Pentium offcourse .. but if 1.6 ghz pentium not an equivalent to 2.0ghz celeron , then whats the equivalent for it??

sorry to prove you wrong ku-sama but if you check out the cpuscorecard then celeron is'nt that bad when compared to a pentium , as you considered it to be..

well, when we tested it in the classroom, the celeron scored 20 points lower in 3DMark05 and 210 points lower in 3DMark03

How about PCMark or other benchmarks? This is just in a graphical benchmark.

the only physical difference between the two is the cache size really. then you take into consideration frequency. in my opinion a celeron at 2ghz would beat a P4 at 1.6ghz, depending on cache sizes. then you also need to take into consideration what app you're running... some are more frequency dependant (rather ALL) but some apps require more cache... and time to process.

ok guys, whats the really the difference with Celeron and Pentium? their both made from Intel? (i dont know much about CPU's, thats why im asking :).)

All I know is that Celeron D's are essentially the same as Pentium 4's, except they have less cache.

yep and celeron m's are essentially the same as pentium M with less cache.
i'd rather a celeron d at 2ghz than a pentium 4 at 1.6ghz definitely.
if the celeron d was clocked at 2.8ghz, then it would own your chip.

For my 2 cents, I have seen a P3 600 mhz outrun a celeron 1.3 ghz. Personally, I hate the celerons.
