hey, i have a 2.0ghz intel pentium M in my laptop, i have a problem...
when i try to install / run some games (such as AoE III) i get a message telling me that my Processor is only 800mhz and below the game specifications, the games still run okay, but i was wondering, why does it say this??
when i run dxdiag it tells me i have 2.0ghz and system properties displays "2.0ghz, 800mhz" why could this be??

It's just underclocking to save power. I know with AMDs, you can use SpeedSwitchXP to lock the processor speed. I don't know what programs are out there for intels, but I'm sure there's one.

When i had my Celeron M 1.5Ghz laptop, i had it set so it lowered the clock speed when it didnt need it, which saves battery life. Most likely thats what happening to you.

You could try messing with the power profiles as that's where speedswitch loads how my processor acts on my laptop. However, you probably need some software to make the correct profile, and again, I don't know what's out there for intel...

ok, now when i go to system properties it says 2.0ghz, 2.0ghz and i havent done anything
if you plug it in and reboot it should have the high frequency...
it only underclocks to save power, that is if its not plugged in.
my uncle has a p4 3.6ghz it automatically underclocks to 2.94ghz.
of course his underclock is small because he bought an alienware laptop
ridiculous waste of money if you ask me lol...
