2 1/2 hours and counting for loading xp

Ok well its at: "Installing Start Menu items" which it has take 14 hours to get to this point. So do you think I should let it finish up then test the ram, or cancel the progress and test the ram and the CD drive?
 
Obviously you need to cancel because if it finishes, your gonna end up having problems anyway. Installations should go smooth or there will be trouble. Download and burn MEMTEST from this site and to cd using a different computer.

Thanks for the help guys, I finally figured it out. There problem was not ram, mobo, Cd or hard drive..................it was a damn bios setting lol.

The CPU value was set to "compatible" when it is supposed to be set to "Normal", once I changed that setting all went smooth. I have no idea what these settings are, but Im glad I finally figured it out.
