I used to my friend to give me his ASUS Rampage Formula X48 board (offered him to trade it for a Q8300 + motherboard :D), so I could overclock a Q6600 C0 stepping I have.
Will go from 2.4GHz to 3.2GHz in the crappiest of crap G31 motherboards, but I believe RAM speeds are holding it back. 3.2GHz on equal/less than stock voltage :)

Those older chips were so much better for overclocking. I got my old E8400 to 3.6 on a G41 mobo without changing the voltage (the motherboard didn't even support voltage changing xD). That's a 600mhz OC. I had to add a lot of voltage on my current i7 6700k to get a 600mhz OC.
