2 6600 GT or 1 6800 GS

Which would provide better gaming. 1 6800 GS or 2 6600 GT in SLi.

1 6800 GS cause it has higher clock speeds and more pixel pipelines then the 6600 GT. and you can sli the 6800GS when you get more money.

the 6600GT's speeds are 500/1000, so i think that 2x 6600GT's may perform better but they dont have as new technology. So i would go with a 6800GS.

Better to keep your options open with the 6800GS. If one GS isn't enough, later you can SLI another one, rather then have to completley replace 2 6600GTs.

i think they made it so you cant unlock the pipelines. but you can OC it to be better than a GT.
7800gt = lasercut pipelines = not unlockable
6800gs = disabled pipelines = intact pipelines = unlockable pipelines
im not 100% on that 6800gs but im pretty sure.

wrong, the 6800GS is only unlockable if you have the AGP version, because the AGP has the NV-40 core, and the PCI-E has the NV-42, which has faster clocks, but has only 12PP insted of 16PP, meaning they arent even there to be cut or disabled..... unless you have an NV-45 core, which isnt put into the GS

EDIT:
my two threads i made on the subject
