So yeah, I'll eventually get another 8800GT and link them. My question is, is a 700watt power supply sufficient? Can I even go less and save a bit of dough? >_> Thanks in advance.

700 watt is loads for 2 8800gt's

im not 100% sure on how much less you can go

as i have a 750W and i got hold of another 8800gt once from a friend and they worked great on it

It depends, WHAT 700w psu is it?

Mine ran two 3870's just fine, if its a good/reliable power supply it should be more than sufficient.

a 650w would be more than sufficient 700w is overkill for 2 8800gt's. i run 2 9800gtx's on a 650 look for a sli certified psu to be sure. Antec have a good range.

I think 560ish is all you need for 9800GX2 SLI (assuming decent brand, good current, etc.). So yes, 700W is definitely enough, but you could easily go for less.

LOL ^^^^

560 is what they recommend for a single card

for SLI you need at least 750

But for 8800GTs its good, your fine

No... the "minimum" power for an 8800GT is 400W according to nVidia. When they say minimum though, they mean the minimum amount of power you would need to run a high performance rig without issues. So you can often get away with less. My overclocked CPU and 8800GT only needs 343W according to this calculator provided by Antec:

With SLI, the recommended is 408W. You do NOT need 700W.

Okay, thank you Oregon. In that case I will probably go with a nice 600w. I will also be running a Q6600. ^_^
