2 adapters?

I have two network adapters. Both are linksys WUSB11's, but one is v 2.6 and the other is v 4.0.

Does anyone know if I could use both adapters, but each one on a different network? If I can't do that, could I configure both to use the same network (assuming that would speed anything up)

I am pretty far away from the router and need anything to boost the speed.

I know you can use two networking cards and have your machine on two networks. I have done that before. As for sharing/splitting the connection, I have heard of people doing something like that, but I don't totally know how.
