2 problems with windows components.

First problem is, look what has happened to my taskbar thingy (after pressing Ctrl Alt Del) I want the thing back to normal so I can flick through menu thing and put it on hibernate.


Secondaly the little audio control thingy has disapeard in the bottom right. And whenever I try to put it back it shows this.


Please help both are very anoying problems and Idont know how they happened. I done virus and spywear scans so its not that.

I dont know when my last restore point was and imalways doing so much stuff on here it will mess it all up. And its been like this for about 2 weeks.
 
Just try your last restore point...as far as your first problem with ctrl alt del mine did that before and I forgot how I got it back, I think you can right click on it up at the top and get some option to display everything.
 
Well I just got the thingy back on Ctrl Alt Del. I thought bout what you said pressed afew buttons and double clicked it and it was better thanks. And what exactely does system restore do? I think my last point was about 1 year aggo wehn I first got my computer, as I had to make a DVD for it.
 
Just follow the instructions... Go to the control panels, add remove programs...

Windows tries to leave hints along the way... think of it like an easter egg hunt.
 
Start> allprograms> accessories> System tools> system restore> Restore my computer to an earlier time, then select a date before you had these problems and click next and your computer will be configured like it was on that day, you dont need a disk...system restore is your friend :D
 
Also, system restore automatically makes restore points. Just cause you didnt make one for a year doesnt mean there wont be a restore point for a year ;)
 
the problem is from what I can understand I will loose all the programmes I have installed since. I reallly dont want this as I have installed about 5 or 6. And some are downloaded (beta testing) and about 900mb andI deleted theinstall file.
