2 profiles on XP?

when i boot up my computer the screen has an option to pick profile 1 or 2. If you let it go for 30 seconds it says it will go back to the last good know configuration. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to get rid of it.
 
go to start>run>type msconfig>go to boot.ini tab and tell it to check all booth paths. It will most likely find a bad one and remove it.
 
Have you tried using the Last known configuraion that worked option to see if the normal bootup is restored? You can also run the chkdsk /f command at the safe mode command prompt to correct any boot sector problems found.

Another tip to pass along here is how to use the Safe Mode/Command Prompt Only method to start up the system restore feature when you have good restore points available to use. If you are seeing this after just having installed something you can go back before that to restore Windows.

i think it has to do with hardware profiles
i think someone probably created a n additional profile aside the default

1. right click my computer for properties
2. go to hardware
3. hardware profile

either delete the other profile or set one to default and reduce the waiting time to about 3

i tried that and found 2 profiles so i just deleted 1 of them. thanks for all the help guys.
