I recently bought a new router. I decided to use the old router to make a network (wired) between my two computers and use the new router (wired) to connect to the internet. Both computer have network two network cards, one for the internet and the other for my network. Both of these connections work, i can connect to the internet and i can share files between my two computers. The problem is i need to keep disabling one of the networks for the other to work. Ive tried setting the internet as the default connection, but with no luck and to make it a bit more complicated i also have hamachi. What am I doing wrong?

well I am not sure how those routers work but what you need to do is have your primary router run these services:

NAT
DHCP
DNS

Then have your older router run with all of those disabled and it will just act as a switch.

You should be able to turn those on/off from the web based control panel.

ive tried with no luck. All I want is a secure firewalled connection to the internet and a connection between my computers with no security at all. Is there another way of doin this though one router?

I have norton firewall and it has trust control. If I were to tell norton to trust and not monitor the two ip's 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.2, which are the ip's my computers uses to connect to the router, would this be secure?
