1. Is the native resolution on a 17" TFT usually the maximum resolution? My maximum is 1280x1024. I can't work out what my native is.

2. If it is then is their anyway to increase the size of stuff if the native resolution is too small. I know you can increse text size and some icons, but some text, icons and buttons stay really small. It's giving me headaches.

1. Yes

2. No... Eh, but I know you can increase the size of many things in windows. I know there's an option to increase your DPI under advanced display proporties...you could try that and see if that helps you any.

You can increase your font size simply like this, if you don't want to go through each individual item in Appearance:
1. Right-click your desktop
2. Click Properties
3. Click Appearance tab
4. Choose Normal, Large, or Extra Large
5. Click OK

To increase Icon sizes:

Do steps 1 through 3, then
4. Click the Advanced button
5. Click the dropdown list
6. Scroll to Icon
7. Use the Size buttons to increase the pixel size used. For instance, "32" means your icons are 32x32 pixels.
8. Click OK

Thanks for the replies. I have tried changing the dpi etc. but some things (like in IE) stay small. Hopefully I'll just get used to it.

you can use the 'hold ctrl and scroll mouse wheel' method. Works on pretty much all programs, use to zoom in on pictures/increase text size...
