$200 desktop?

I'm looking to build a series of cheap desktops to run
Eve Online characters with mining macros.

1GB ram.
Nvidia FX 5600 and up.
P4 2.5Ghz and up.
30GB HD.
Basic case and psu.

Any suggestions on system? I think my best route is used
parts from Kijiji. Also, I'm not sure which motherboard is
for the P4 series of cpu's.

Or perhaps it would be cheaper to get one of the newer
motherboard with built-in Nvidia chip?

Thanks.

i would think an e5200, p/g 31 intel board, 2gb's of ram, and an 8500gt would be able to do it, does eve run on linux? because you could save yourself a lot of money that way

Not anymore. Linux support was discontinued in the latest Eve upgrade.

I think the system you suggest will be near $300 to $400.

yeah, i think your right, i looked up most of the stuff, and it came to around $300, you might be better off trying to pickup some second hand p4 systems, upgrading the ram to 1gb(unless you already have it) and also upgrading the video card unless you don't need to

What about getting a bad ass Octocore CPU with like 16 Gig or RAM and run several virtual machines running XP on it? Newer chips even run VM software bare metal now for better performance.

I already have a quad-core with lots of ram. And I looked
into it - a virtual machine can't run games that require 3D
graphics. There is no way to virtualize graphic card output.
