Once you show your parts we will be happy to help.

For 2 grand, you should be able to either CF HD7970s or SLI 3GB GTX580s with a 2500k and some fairly nice options for case and other components. A massive SSD would also be in there. (this is all assuming its a gaming computer).

Yeah, sorry. I was doing that 5 minutes before class in hopes i could post the Excel File on there..

Anyways, Unless im totally crazy, i couldnt afford quite that much. I have never built one from new parts before, but i have from salvaged parts. I figure 8% tax, although thats a little high, and free shipping. Im charging $100, and it needs to go none over $2000.

Intel i5-2500k
(Do I really need a link? haha)
Seems to be the best without going overboard.

ASUS Saertooth

It seemed like a good deal, and ASUS has a good Rep as far as i know.

Vengeance (2x4GB) Ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233142
Its Fast Ram out of the box, and its from Corsair.

SAPPHIRE HD6970

Besides the fact all the 7000's are out of stock, i cant afford them(more below)

Cooler Master HAF 912
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233
From what i found, the most highly regarded case out there at the price.

Corsair TX850M
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139029
Is this overkill?

I want suggestions on the HDD(SSD). I basically have $350 budget for one. I was planning on doing a 120GB SSD with a 1TB HDD. I dont know if thats what i want to do though.

Windows Home Premium
Do i need to bump it?

ASUS DRW
Highly regarded, and $20

ASUS VE248H Moniter
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236102

So, i dont want to overclock at all, and i basically want it to be as stable as possible. So thats why im against Multi GPU, even though 2 6870's Out Perform a 6970, from what ive read. Anything else im missing? Opinions please.

Thanks for the help.

You have the budget for a Nvidia 580. I would definitely go for that. If that is out of your budget, I would recommend a 570 over a 6970.

A 120GB SSD and HDD is a perfect setup. Make sure you get a nice SATA III SSD for the best performance.

For the RAM, you won't see any real difference between 1600 and 1866. I would go with some 1600mhz with low timings:

If you're against multiple GPUs, you need a quality 650w power supply. Anything over that is overkill. I suggest either of these two:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020

And overclocking your CPU is really easy, a lot less scary than you think. I would give it a shot, but you'd need an aftermarket cooler. I suggest the 212+:

Home premium is all you need.

Asus motherboards... people have had problems with them, a lot on this forum, even. I, personally, would steer clear of them, but then again, some members swear by them.

Ok, so i replaced the PSU with the Corsair one you suggested.

I have this SSD picked out. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233211

Ive made an excutive decision, and im going to tell him to wait to get an HDD until he needs one. Hopefully, they will have come down in price by then.

And, finally, i picked out this

I can afford but maybe $25 more, and this looked better unless im just crazy.

Hows that? Order it when i get the ok, or is there still a problem?

Don't buy the 912! If you have the cash, which you do, get a better case. It has terrible cable management and overall bad compared to other cases on the market.

Fractal Design Define R3

But it's hard for me to recommend stuff, as the HAF 912 on Newegg is about half the price compared to Denmark. But you'll appreciate the R3 if you like the design. It's amazing quality and incredibly silent. The airflow is fantastic as well.

have you even looked at the 912 before? It has amazing cable management. And airflow is built in to it, hence "HAF" High Air Flow.
