I'm hoping to stay as close to $2000 and below. How can I maximize this set up?

I'm not looking for 100+fps on games (though that would be kind of cool). I'm looking for a great machine that can multitask, render hd video, and do very well with the latest games.

Multitask, render video, and game.

For you, if you're more into editing video than gaming, spend more on the CPU and RAM.

An overclocked 3770k would outperform a 3820.

Ditch the dual 550tis and get a AMD 7850/70 for the price.

Change the power supply to a 600-700w power supply from corsair, antec, silverstone, seasonic, nzxt, pc power and cooling, or xfx.

Change out your ram for a 4x4gb set of 1600 ram. Same price, more, and dual channel.

what is this build going to be used for? THat will determine where it can be made better.

I use sony vegas, photoshop elements, tons of webpages open, all while listening to music.

Games include the sims 3, bf3, codmw3, far cry 2, arma 2. Games like that

An overclocked 3779k would outperform a 3820.

well, most of the work I'd do would be with those applications. Not that I wouldn't want to game. I would have thought sli would have been more cost efficient.

Do I really only need a 600-700w power supply?

WAIT! Will my motherboard cover the ATI Card?

For one video card (which I would recommend) 600-700w would be more than enough. If you ever want more than 1 video card (but being that you said you don't want the best) it'd be smart to go for 750w and up.

But the 7850/70 I recommended would get great framerates.

Didn't notice your case. Doesn't have good cable management, I would look at corsair, coolermaster, nzxt, lian li in the $100family range.

Wait! Why has nobody said this, that power supply is unreliable and sorta junky.Nobody ever gets it or listens, so this always get people, that power supply has a medium risk of blowing up and taking a load of parts with it.Look into antec, corsair (highly reccomended), and seasonic (very highly reccomeded), and pc power and cooling.A single gtx 560ti would beat the 550ti sli by just a little bit, and have less power draw.Yes, wait for nvididas new releases of gpus.I mean it, you can get a MUCH better psu for $150.This is the 750 gold. There is the 850 bronze, but the 750 is the better model and you dont need 800 watts. m.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151087 Search seasonic x750 gold in full newegg.com Yay, 500th post and nobody here to see except claptoman.
