Cheapest I could come up with last year was a £211 build with monitor, KB+M / no OS.
Certainly not a 'gaming' computer though!

No no no you got it all wrong!
What i was meaning was! A 'gaming' computer.. as in basic things but very upgradable! Like i can use it to start with but obviously i wont be able to play any games YET then i can upgrade it
You do NOT need to add a keyboard/mouse/monitor/OS.. Just the basic stuff that can be upgraded. So basically just a good case and motherboard and psu thats it.. OH and a cheap CPU that can be later upgraded.

If you want a basic computer to start with.
Get a simple CPU, say E1200. Motherboard with onboard VGA, and a PCIE socket, pick up some cheap 2GB DDR2, an adequate PSU for your needs right now, a cheap case.
You already mentioned you have kb+m and OS + Monitor
So pick up a £10 case, a £40 PSU, a £30 CPU, a £40 motherboard and some ram for £20 and you're set. You can also pick up a HDD off of ebay for like £5 aswell as a DVDRW.
The CPU can replaced with a better Core 2 Duo, or a quad.
You can upgrade to more and faster ram. Increase HDD Capacity, change your case to one you like, and add any PCIE Graphics card in your PCIE Socket motherboard.
