the motherboard i'm buying only supports 800 mhz

but the only rams i can find are 1033mhz and up

is it ok to use them? or will it totally f up the system?

you must choose ddr3 motherboard +ddr3 ram , or ddr2 motherboard + ddr2 ram :P

tell us what motherboard are you buying

Look under memory capacity, it says some 1066 and 1333 will work but will just downclock to 800. I would just get 1066 mhz.

EDIT, just realized that it says SO Dimm which this is the only available memory at newegg that would work. You need to use server memory, not regular desktop memory.

I would seriously rethink about buying that motherboard.
