22" LCD Monitor - Under $200 - Suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a 22" LCD monitor for under $200.

I want just a monitor, and don't care about speakers or webcams.

I don't care a whole lot about the stand or the aesthetics, as long as they are not horrid (like some of the acer's).

I will be using it mainly for gaming, but also for office work and video editing.

I decided on 22" because it seems a nice size, not too big or small. I have no brand preferences.

I was shocked by THIS deal, but the reviews seemed mixed.

Comments, Suggestions?
Thanks

If you wait for a good deal then you will be happy. I know you said not too big, but FYI I just got a 26 inch for $220 and the specs on it all out-class my current 24 inch monitor that was $480. Patience is a virtue. (btw, the 26 inch monitor deal is no longer available, otherwise I would link you)

Thats a good deal on the ASUS monitor, I believe Officemax have a 24" at $249, while stock lasts, so if there is one by you, id get that, otherwise, that ASUS screen is good.

Thanks guys!

@bcohen4 - That's awesome. Was this deal from a store, friend, internet site or what?

@Garethman - Thanks! I'll check officemax and see what's going on there.

Any other suggestions? What website would you all recommend?
Thanks

Other suggestions? I don't want to drop $200 on a mediocre monitor, so I want to be sure. Otherwise I might go ahead and buy this.

Thanks

Thanks for the link.

I have a question though.
Aren't Hanns-G's pretty crappy compared to Asus and other such brands? I mean that deal is REALLY tempting, but when I think about it, I'd rather drop an extra $30 on a better monitor if the improvement in performance is noticeable. (like, will I notice 2ms vs 5ms or will the back light be uneven, etc.)

If this Hanns-G holds up to the Asus I mentioned, I'll go for it.

Last time I heard Hanns-G was a great brand.

But I'm not sure how they compare against other brands.

I just got that email from Tiger last night and remembered when I was reading this thread.

Hmmmm...

That's interesting. Hanns-G was always showing up on the supper discount lists so I just assumed they were sort of sub-par.

I'm curious how they would compare to acer.

Anyway, my main fear with these dirt cheap monitors is that they will go bad quickly, and will no longer be usable. I read one review that said this monitor came with a halo on the top and developed green lines after a week.

Anyway, I think I'll just keep an eye out for a bargain. It seems like there's a new great deal on a 22" every other day.

Thanks a lot for all your help. I'm happy to hear any other suggestions.

Just got this Hyundai 22" alert from Tiger.

HERE

Anyone heard of Hyundai making good monitors??

Does this seem good, or should I get a Hanas-G or or Asus instead?
It dosen't seem like a great deal unless this is an especially good monitor. Shipping is $16.

Thanks

Thanks guys.

My one problem with Newegg is that I live in NJ so I have to pay TAX, which sucks for expensive things because it adds like $15, but their prices still tend to be cheaper than other sites. The only other I know to look at is Tiger.

nice price that was congrats

Unless you're in a hurry to buy a monitor, I'd wait for the Black Friday sale. They always have good stuff and it's only a month away. I don't have a link for you, but there was a leak on the sales. People were saying 22" for $99. Whether or not that's going to be the exact price or size, that's a good deal!
