22" Wide with Xbox 360

I was thinking of getting a 22" widescreen monitor for my PC, and maybe later this summer getting an Xbox 360. My PC is in my room (and I want to keep it that way) and I would like for the Xbox to be in my room as well, because the only TV in my house is a shitty old one that's in my living room.
So considering that I don't want to buy a $1000-$3000 HDTV to get the 360, and I probably will already have a 22"er, would using an 360 on a 22" monitor (from like 2 feet away from my face) be worth it, and what kind of monitor would be good for both an Xbox and my PC?
Thanks guys.
And BTW, sorry I haven't been on the CoFo forever, this summer I'll be checking it regularly again. I miss you guys...

But don't some monitors have specialty plugs on them specifically for something like an Xbox 360? Also, I need a monitor that would make the 360 look good.

Something with about 5ms of refresh rate (granted, the human eye cant see differences below 16, we wont go there ;)). 1000:1 contrast (800:1 if you cant afford it). Cant remember a good light intensity off the top of my head. But DVI (assuming your pc is DVI) and component inputs (assuming youll get a premium xbox with HD) and you should be set.

I feel like Im forgetting something...Oh well, my racist, sexist, gay remarks and I are gunna go taunt another poster now. :D

Yeah, those will both work well but you will need one of these:

lol, i thought it would be cool to embed a picture, but i guess not.

@tuxify: remember that monitor's are 16:10 and xbox 360 is not, so you will have slight compatibility issues. there will probably be black bars on the screen when you play.

Awesome. I think I'll get the ChiMei for now, mostly because it's a good monitor, and if I do get an Xbox in the future, I can just get that cable and use it. Thanks guys. Now to just rack up $200...

Overrated. Altnough that was just about the only excuse he gave me at school the other day in the argument 360 VS PS3...
Thing is, you'd need a good tv for Blu-Ray, which is another $1000-$2000. Plus you can't play Halo 3, Saints Row, or any other fun 360 games...

Not to hijack this thread and start an argument but...

1) Id only spend like 500 on a good tv but if i got a dohickey, iwouldnt need to.
2)Halo shmelo. Wasnt as awed by halo 3 as i was hoping. Saints row...we've talked about this before, saints row < GTA
3)Shea has PS3 :P

but, if I cant get one of these - um adapters? - that would almost be reason enough to get a 360.

But can anyone answer my question...

Do they make one of those converter do-hickeys for PS3? (Dont relly know what to search for)

I don't know if they make them for the PS3.

As to how the xbox 360 looks on the 22" monitor, I run mine on my 22". My monitor has component inputs so I don't have to worry about any converters though. It does have black bars on the top and bottom, but they are only 1cm tops on either side. If you get a monitor with a black bezel you really won't even notice it once you start playing.

As for how it looks, great imo for what you pay for. On my 22" it looks much better than what I've seen on cheaper hi-def tv's. My family has a really nice 42" that I get to play on when I bring the xbox home. That does look quite a bit nicer than the monitor, but is also expensive as hell. A 22" lcd monitor should do you great though, especially if you don't have the money or space for a big tv, as its worked wonderful for me.

So would it be comparable to a SD tv or would it be in between a SD TV and a HD TV?

Newegg seems to think its HD...

etsoy confundido

@ Epidemik: I hated Halo 3 when I first played it in single player, but once I played it on Xbox live, I enjoyed it a lot more.

@ Nightrain: Can you give a link to your monitor, because having the inputs already on there would be really nice. It seems like you'd be able to hook other things up to it as well.
