If you don't notice it as it is I probably wouldn't try to look for it. Ya you will learn if your monitor is decent or just ok, but if it does have backlight bleed that will be all you see on those dark scenes once you know it is there. 
But what fortyways said would be the same way I would go about it. Really simple and easy to do.
