I am newer to viewing the technology thats around today with computers. It seems not alot of motherboards support 24gb of ram and I was wondering what exactly you have to do to get the full 24gb running. Is it just fill the slots with the memory sticks and have a good processor? I am looking into getting a pretty top of the line setup and want to get to know the setup before I purchase it.

All you have to do install any compatible RAM, and you're good to go. However, anything more than 4-6GB is pretty much useless unless you're doing some pretty level CAD, looking to set up a pretty sophisticated server, or something along those lines. For performance in a desktop, you'd be better off getting less of some quality high speed RAM, and put more money into your CPU and graphics card.

i believe that is only on core i7 boards, so you couldnt up the cpu really.
if you hooked this board, with 6 sticks of this ram, it would be 24gb and $2040, thats the cheapest ram i could find of the ddr3 at 1066

what do you want 24GB of ram for? thats insane!
If your talking about just a regular desktop computer, why would you want 24gbs. of memory for?
Not saying I want or am going to get 24gb of ram but I am just figuring out the exact use of that much. I will most likley be using a recording program for music and editing music and music videos. I found some 4gb sticks that in total would run $500 bucks for 24gb. Thats not too bad if you could actually use it.

You're not going to use 24GB of RAM doing music videos, you won't even use 10GB. I would say that the most you would want would be 8GB, and you won't notice an performance difference from 8GB to 24GB.
