just got new cable internet. dont remember last internet's official speed but a recent speedtest.net test ran before the change results showed 4 mb/s. was downloading on computer 1 then at .5 mb/s. computer 2 @ the same. both hard-wired in.

now, with comcast's 25mb/s internet; speedtest's showing 30mb down. an actual download is resting at around .3 mb on computer 1(now using wireless adapter) and .5 mb on computer 2(still hard-wired in). why?

any help is much appreciated

Your download speed depends on how busy their server is and a few other things. As long as your speedtest shows your getting what you are paying for then your fine. Try downloading a huge file like this and see what mb/s you get.

If you are getting 30 mb down you should be downloading at 3.75 mb/s average.

Where are you downloading from? I'd trust a speed test a lot more than downloads from random servers. I could be downloading at 4MBps from one server, and 100KBps from another.

did you just say you don't trust random servers?

isn't that link suggested direct from the MS.com server?
