Hello all. Upgraded my 4 year old comp so I could play the RTS Supreme Commander, my fav game. However, when I try to play multiplayer my game crashes, and I'm wondering if it's my hardware, and not the game, that's the problem. I have a Intel Dual Core E6600, 8800 GTX, EVGA 680i SLI MB, 2 gigs of Corsair ram, Soundblaster X-FI soundcard, and a HX 620W Corsair power supply. When I play the game in it's most taxing mode, a 3v3 or 4v4, it almost alway's lock's up, forcing me to manually restart my comp, as I can't get out of it. Some of the guys on the Supcom forum's have said that overheating is a possibility. I downloaded a program called "Coretemp", and it's telling me my core temps are at 36,37 when my comp is idle. I have a Zalman 9700 fan on the cpu, and it's not overclocked. Any idea's what the problem could be?

maybe its just crappy coding on the game's side. Things like memory leaks can lock or crash systems, and are a common problem with sloppy coding.

I would patch the game. Also try running a taxing FPS with full everything and see if it locks.

You may also want to run some memory tests on your RAM.

yea, hey have you tried other games, with the same senario... many people have had crashing problems with their 8800, talk to ADE!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah try a game that puts some heavy pressure on your cpu.

Also, why didnt you get a totaly new system if you spent 2500?

Kent.
