256 color issues

Hi,

My computer "gateway" which I bought a couple of month has no 256 color setting, and their tech support told me that it is the netechnology as the video cards are integrated in the mother boards now, and that 256 is oblete...is this correct, by the way I have Nvidia card that came wth the computer.....wjhy is this important? well some websites tthat I visit has java applets, and as soon as I open them the Ie will crash and close spontanuesly...I checked java web site, andin their tech solution, there was my problem exactly, and it states that if the color seting is not 256, then the iE will crash....HOPE you can help

There shouldnt be an option for 256K color, just 16 and 32 Bit. You need to make sure that 32Bit is enabled.

And integrated is not better then an actual card, so its not going to take the place of dedicated cards any time soon.

Thanks omega, but the 32 is enabled, is this issue is common for java applets?
Actually one of the reasons I picked that computer is their claim that it has nvidia card, no body said anything about the integration "I guess no body know"
to be honest, I don'y know what ahppened every thing was fine, and all of a sudden crashes down
