Hey, today i bought dual chanel OCZ 1024 3200 184 pin ram.
When i installed it(first removed the single 512 i had in there) and went into my bios and in my system information, it shows that i have 256 MB instead of 1024. I went into CPUZ to check out how much I had and it showed 1024.
Does anyone know a way to fix this problem?

I have a Emachines H6207
I am using OCZ PC-3200 DDR400 Premier Series 1GB (2x512MB) Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5 (OCZ4001024PDC-K)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Well, are you getting your 1 Gb worth of ram? Like are you having to run on virtual ram after only using 300MB-800MB of ram? If so then i shouldnt see why theres a concern.

Could anyone explain to me how to flash my bios?

my Motherboard is a RS480 (msi-7145)

Before you go flashing your bios have you looked at emachines website, they have a link to speak live to a tech.

Now is he going to be any help? Thats a whole different question. :P

may i ask, why didn't you just buy another stick of 512mb instead of buying 2 sticks of 512mb and tossing the one you have already?

i have emailed the emachines tech a couple of times now and their answers did not help

and the stick of ram that i had in my computer broke so i just bought 1 gig

Have you tried putting the ram into a different ram slot? Also,do you think you mobo may have cause you old ram to break?

Yes I have i have tried it both ways but still have not gotten any result
and its not my mobos fault it was a accident by one of my family members

would you guys be able to direct me to the right bios if i were to tell you the motherboard? msi rs480 (ms-7145)

will your mobo support 1gb of ram?

I don't think I've ever seen a motherboard that doesn't support at least 1 GB of RAM....:rolleyes:And my dad is in the IT industry and he used to own his own hardware business
